“One” written in the books.

Today is a very special day for my husband and I. Today, September 4th we celebrate our first year of marriage and 6 years together. I have been talking about it with our friends and the reoccurring response is “Wow, it’s been a year already?” I honestly feel the same way, but time always goes by fast for me. (Must mean I have a lot of fun 😊 )

I always heard that the first year of marriage is the hardest, I think otherwise. Maybe for the couples that never lived together, I can see why, but I think this year has been one of the most fun since we have been together! We went on some awesome dates, met new friends and we grew closer together as a family.

Most of you may have read my previous post about my wedding day and if you haven’t then click the link and read about how special our day was to me.

We wanted to go up north to where our wedding was this weekend, but school has been crazy for us already that we couldn’t leave town. Last year we spent a couple of days after the wedding hiking in Sedona and going to all the little antiques shops that Cottonwood had. We found this old soda crate that we thought was cool even though it was pretty banged up, but I thought I could fix it.

I unfortunately had to take it apart, buy new wood, stain those pieces and Austin had to nail it back together. I kept the pieces that weren’t rotting away and put a clear coat on them to preserve the wood from any more damage. When we saw this we knew it would be the perfect souvenir from our perfect weekend and it is a constant reminder that we have sitting on our coffee table. Kinda funny because Red Rock Cola actually has nothing to do with Arizona, but I painted our name on the crate to give it meaning to us.

All around our apartment I have a lot of reminders that our family’s have made for us and I think this is what makes our home special. img_6136My aunt made the tree for everyone to stamp their thumbs on and my grandpa made this picture frame with a bunch of rocks he found and polished himself. So cute right? img_6137Then my mother-in-law made me this. When I did my bouquet toss my sister-in-law caught my bouquet and they saved it. They put the boys boutonnieres, flower-girl dress, map of the park and my bouquet in this shadow box. I did say I have the best family. I am so happy she thought of this because I think it is one of the most special keepsakes I have.

Today is always a special day for Austin and I. We never really go all out because just spending the day together is enough for us. This morning I am making us Coffee Cake with strawberries, some scrambled eggs and mimosas to toast! Later we will go out for a fun happy hour who knows what else! (I’ll post what I made and our awesome date we go on, tomorrow 😉 )

I love being young and in love, I love the life we share, how we hold each other up,  how we laugh together, how we experience new things and how we chase our dreams together. Love should come easy, there will disagreements, sometimes our voices might get higher than normal (honestly, we don’t have many arguments) , but our love will never fade. We work through whatever life throws at us and we do it together because we are a team.

I hope you all of you find that special love that makes your world spin like mine and if you do, hold on tight and never let go.

Cheers to all the people who came to our celebration last year, and all the friends and family who made it possible.

Cheers to love, happiness and the butterflies in the gut.

Peace out my Girl Scouts,

Mrs. Little
